The EcoReserve
Ecoreserva Quelhue is within the Biological Reserve of the Biosphere Araucarias Carhuello’s district, declared by UNESCO in 1983. It is a unique place located in the middle of Patagonia’s wet temperate forests, Araucania, with majestic views of the Villarrica and Quetrupillan volcanoes and Carhuello’s hill, blessed by streams and springs which flow into the river Liucura. A place designed for you to connect with yourself, nature and silence.
We invite you to experience unique sunrise and sunsets in the forest, breathing fresh air and feeling tranquility, making your stay a pleasure and a starting point for numerous excursions and activities related to nature.
Ecoreserva Quelhue is committed to the preservation and conservation of native species both in flora and fauna. In turn, we seek self-sufficiency and sustainability through the creation of our organic garden, implementing clean and renewable energy, sustainable architecture organic design mimicked the environment, the isolation of the same and use of water with a advanced wastewater treatment, installation of underground power lines that do not interfere with wildlife, lighting fixtures and lighting with low consumption LED technology, recycling of biodegradable and organic waste composting in our area for months after being used as organic fertilizer for our crops.
Our commitment goes beyond even, we have native reforestation programs in areas of overgrazing and avoid risk of erosion and to protect fragile ecosystems that exist. We want to preserve the native forests of southern Chile, through the creation of our native tree nursery where study germinaremos and tree seeds, native medicinal plants and herbs such as Ulmo Coigüe, Laurel, Canelo, Oak, Rauli, Lingue , Tepa, Hazel, Myrtle, Maqui, among others, and at the same time help maintain and restore the ecosystem of birds and wildlife that they contain.
Our responsibility towards the environment also has plans for waste recycling, so that we have in each of our cabins fully equipped separate dumpsters, one for the organic and the other for recyclables. We also make available to our guests Ecoreserva recycling area where they can separate cardboard, glass, cans and plastics.
We invite you to revel in our Nature Sanctuary where you can meet the sounds of the forest through the singing of birds, passing the stream and the dance of leaves in the wind.
