Half-day activities

Visit the Eyes of Caburgua

The eyes of Caburgua are magnificent natural basins formed by underground water of the Caburgua lake, they emerge creating a spectacle of turquoise waterfalls. Located just 5 minutes from the Ecoreserva Quelhue this is certainly an unforgettable panorama for its beautiful environment of lush forests and the stunning visual phenomena that cause. There you can also visit a small lake of clear water known as Blue Lagoon. It is an ideal place for swimming and picnicking and is accessible both by car and by bicycle.

Visit the Lago Caburga

Con 53 kilómetros cuadrados de superficie, este maravilloso lago posee cálidas aguas y un hermoso escenario natural de fondo, en donde sobresalen el Volcán Villarrica y una frondosa vegetación. Su origen es volcánico y sus playas cuentan con aguas claras y apacibles en donde los visitantes practican durante el verano deportes como: Pesca recreativa, banano, velerismo, natación, contemplación de flora y fauna, fotografía.

Biking

Starting from the Ecoreserva Quelhue you can access to a number of routes that take you to wonderful places like Quelhue’s hills, passing through the town of Carhuello, Bellavista, Copihue, Carileufu falls, and Caburgua eyes, you can explore the beautiful surroundings along the Liucura river until you reach the Villarrica lake and Pucon. Another beautiful route is along the El Cani reserve on the way to the hot springs, through beautiful farms and ranches, observing the flora and fauna, returning through the town of San Pedro.

Rafting River Trancura

In this area you will find one of the most exciting rivers in southern Chile, where you can practice rafting led by an expert guide. The degree of difficulty of the water is 3 to 5 degrees, according to international standards. Go with the flow of a river of white water is a unique experience. Adrenaline, excitement and fun are the characteristics of this sport adventure. To practice, you only need clothing, depending on the time, that can get wet. Canopy

The canopy is a family adventure sport that combines with ecological experience. Consists of sliding with a harness on a stainless steel wire through platforms mounted on the tree tops, where you will be able to appreciate the nature without altering the habitat. To do this there is no age limit, just being in good physical condition. Not recommended for pregnant women.

Hot Springs

To rest, relax or simply enjoy a nice swim in warm waters, Hot springs options around Ecoreserva Quelhue are for everyone. Nature gave to this area several hot water springs, which have been exploited for tourism taking each spa characteristics. Some are simple, others rustic and also luxurious. Pools also vary in size from roofed or with option to individual cabins and even mud baths. All spas are immersed in a beautiful natural landscape by the river side, surrounded by mountains; some are 20 minutes drive from Ecoreserva Quelhue. Some of the hot springs nearby are Huife, Quimeyco, Pozones and Geometric to name a few.

Fly Fishing

Pucón has become a circuit must for fans of fly fishing for their suitable rivers and streams where you can test the quality of the trout that abound in the area. Among the most prominent types of fishing are the fly fishing (the most respectful way of fishing versus environment and prey), spinning and trolling. Rivers and streams, as well as distant mountain range gaps are the ideal setting to enjoy the landscape. Horseback riding

Around Ecoreserva Quelhue you can enjoy the opportunity to discover the wild and untouched landscape, overlooking three volcanoes, glaciers, and waterfalls passing by through forests, discovering the relaxing atmosphere of the typical Chilean countryside.

Bird Watching

In Ecoreserva Quelhue find it very helpful to spend a few minutes by simply observing the behavior of birds from the cabin. Near the river can see birds like Bandurrias Tiuques, Treiles, Peucos, Chaicanes, Swallows, Woodpeckers, Hummingbirds, Loicas, Partridges, Thrushes, and Parrots tricahues, Choroi, Chucao, among others, in their natural state and hopefully also is possible to see a kingfisher and the majestic Condor of the Andes.

Tour to the Mapuche Indian Reservation

Just 10 minutes from the Ecoreserva Quelhue you can visit an interesting Mapuche reservation Fair where you can delight with typical food of the indigenous people and get closer to the Chilean roots.

Tour Pucon town and shops on Calle Fresia

Take the street Fresia or O’Higgins Avenue in Pucon is also a good picture. The commercial sector has become the epicenter of social life where local retail stores and small art & craft shops open its doors daily. The casino is located in the heart of the beautiful city of Pucon. Volcanic caves

A visit to the volcanic caves is an interesting opportunity to learn about geology and volcanism. You can enter a lava tunnel created over 2 million years ago by a thick lava flow that, on freezing the top layer, followed by forming caves dripping below that are currently eligible and illuminated with a path to 650 meters. Nearby you can visit a run of the volcano (lahar) and a flood caused by melting snow in a rash, over 500 years ago. These volcanic caves are one of the two open to the general public worldwide.

National Park Huerquehue

Huerquehue is a park with a vast expanse of native trees that form an impressive forest. It has the most diverse species such as Araucaria, Lenga, Oak, Coigues and Mañío. At 12,500 hectares find places where hills and streams contain numerous lakes and crystal clear lagoons and unsurpassed beauty. Easily accessible during the summer, this park offers visitors several options for recreation, either admiring nature or engaging in leisure activities. From there you will have access to wonderful views, and if you’re lucky, you’ll see the majestic condors flying over its territory.

Villarrica National Park

Located in a side branch of the Andes Mountains, the park is known for its volcanoes, forests, caves, rivers and lakes. Dominating the landscape and determining its relief, the Villarrica volcano is the most attractive. With a height of 2,847 meters, and despite having the reputation of being the most active in South America, this volcano is the center of tourism in the area. The park covers an area of 63 hectares, with vast forests of beech and araucaria in the upper, and rauli mañío coigüe longleaf and in the lowest. Forested areas allow the existence of a variety of animals, highlighting pumas, foxes screaming and culpeo, pudu, nutria, peucos, quiques, skunks and monkeys from the mountain, one of the three species of marsupials that exist in Chile.

Lican Ray

Lican Ray is a town of family entertainment and youth located 50 km away from Pucón and divided by a peninsula and two beaches. The peninsula is a natural park that reaches 52 meters high above the lake, with a number of conifers and native trees. It has two balconies with an overview of Lican Ray, Lake Calafquén and islands. The Playa Grande is suitable for sunbathing, sand is abundant and fine, and from there you can see some of the islands Calafquén. Finally, the Playa Chica is ideal for swimming and water sports. Ski Resort

Route of the Volcanoes

The Route of the Volcanoes has over 300 kms of roads and trails from the city of Temuco, through several districts of the region. This circuit includes nine major volcanoes located in a landscape of large reliefs, forests, lakes, ashpits, lava flows and deserts caused by eruptive phenomena. With the assistance of expert guides, you can schedule a walk of about eight hours to the summit. We also offer visits to volcanic caves with a tour of a lava tunnel 200 meters deep. Crossing Interlakes (CHILE – ARGENTINA)

Spectacular tour to visit the beautiful lakes around the region between CHILE and ARGENTINA sister republic. The tour includes visiting from Panguipulli lake, to the beautiful city Argentina San Martin de los Andes, Villa la Angostura y Bariloche, then back to Chile through Puyehue and finally Pucon.
